Tourism in Hebei province’s Shexian county has experienced rapid growth in recent years, as a result of its increasing number of facilities for tourists and the activities on offer.
Located in the southwest of Hebei province and at the foot of Taihang Mountain, Shexian county has stunning scenery as well as a rich traditional culture. It's also a famous production area for walnuts and Sichuan peppers, which makes agricultural sightseeing a tourist highlight.
Currently, the county has one 5A-level scenic spot and two 4A-level scenic spots, as well as another 100 small scenic spots, featuring red tourism, cultural relics and agricultural sightseeing.
In 2016, Shexian county received 5.1 million tourists and earned tourism revenues of 2.05 billion yuan ($297.66 million), representing year-on-year growth of 21.4 percent and 36.6 percent respectively.
