Starting from July 6, passengers can take high-speed trains for the first time from Beijing to Xiongan New Area, a new State-level economic zone in North China’s Hebei province, according to China Railway Corporation (CRC).
Two train services, namely the D6655/6656 and D6657/6658 will run the Beijing – Baoding route and stop at the stations of Bazhou West, Baigou, Baiyangdian and Xushui.
Located some 100 kilometers southwest of downtown Beijing, Xiongan New Area mostly covers Xiongxian, Rongcheng and Anxin counties.
Baiyangdian Station is closest to Xiongan, as it is situated just a few kilometers from Rongcheng county.
The D6655 and D6657 will depart from Beijing South Railway Station at 08:08 and 13:00 respectively, and arrive at Baiyangdian Station after 80 minutes, saving around one hour compared to making the journey by car.
A second-class seat for the journey is priced at 45 yuan ($6.62), according to CRC’s website 12306.cn.
The launch of the new high-speed train services is an important measure by CRC to support the development of Xiongan New Area, and will facilitate transportation and trade along the route, said a CRC official.
