Hebei province has released its tourism statistics for the first half of 2017, with figures revealing continued growth in the industry, Hebei Daily reported on July 21.
Statistics from Hebei Provincial Tourism Committee reveal that Hebei saw 241 million tourists visit the province in the first half of 2017, representing year-on-year growth of 20.23 percent. The total income generated by the tourism industry reached 234.55 billion yuan ($34.75 billion), a year-on-year increase of 29.84 percent.
Details from the statistics reveal that domestic tourists accounted for the majority of tourists visiting Hebei, with only 684,100 foreign tourists visiting the province –– an increase of 12.2 percent.
The top three countries for outbound tourists visiting Hebei province in the first half of 2017 were Japan (68,300), South Korea (42,500), Russia (30,700), and the United States (25,800).
In addition, the most visited cities in Hebei province were Zhangjiakou and Chengde in northern Hebei, Tangshan and Qinhuangdao along the coastline of the Bohai Sea, as well as Handan city in the south of the province.
