A 3-D zebra crossing made its debut on a road in Shijiazhuang, in North China's Hebei province, on Sept 5.
With the white background highlighted by blue and yellow, the crossing on Ta’an Road created a 3-D visual effect giving the crossing the appearance of roadblocks from a distance, so that it can easily attract the attention of drivers and pedestrians.
Because the road is near the Nanwang School, a 3-D crossing can be very useful in reducing traffic accidents during rush hour.
“This is a trial project, and we will decide whether to promote it or not in the future,” said a staff member from the public safety bureau.
